Michigan Humane
Michigan Humane aims to improve animal welfare with adoptions/vet clinic/surrenders/rescue and cruelty investigations, humane education, and low cost vet care to Detroit residents. They were founded in 1877 and started by âserving women and children being abused and helping horses who were coming out of service from the Civil War.â
They are all about âensuring every family has the ability to experience the important role of a pet in their familyâ and are inspired by caring for humans and animals.
Why the North End?
Michigan Humane loves being a part of the community most in need, the rich culture of the neighborhoods, availability of property meeting our needs, and the central location to the City. They also love the location because they are so easily accessible to everyone coming to visit the facility. Doug Plant says âbeing a part of this rich community is critical to our success.â
